2025 Local Elections: Building Strong Communities Through Voting
Strong, stable communities are built when neighbors come together to shape the future of their towns, cities, and state. That’s why nonpartisan voter engagement is a vital part of our work at Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota. As we approach the 2025 local elections, we’re committed to ensuring Minnesotans are ready to vote!
Why Local Elections Matter
Voting is a powerful tool for advancing affordable homeownership and creating communities where everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. And while presidential election years grab the headlines, local elections often have the greatest impact on our daily lives, from decisions on housing to those regarding schools, transit, and community resources.
This year, not every part of Minnesota will have a local election. See the resources below to determine if your area has an election. In local elections, fewer people cast ballots, which means every vote carries even more weight. Your voice and your vote matter.
And whether or not your community has an election this November, now is also a great opportunity to check your voter registration status.

Voting Options
To vote in Minnesota, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on Election Day, and a resident of Minnesota for at least 20 days. Eligible Minnesotans have multiple options for casting their ballots:
- Vote Early in Person: Find a time that works for you and vote early at your designated location.
- Vote Early by Mail: Request an absentee ballot and vote from the comfort of your home.
- Vote on Election Day: Find your polling place and make your voice heard.
Visit mnvotes.gov for more information on these options and to find your polling place.
Be an Informed Voter
By learning more about who and what is on your ballot, you will be better positioned to see solutions for the issues that are vital to you.
