2026 Minnesota Voter Guide: Resources to Help You Get Ready to Vote
Strong, stable communities are built when neighbors come together to shape the future of their towns, cities, state, and country. That’s why nonpartisan voter engagement is a vital part of our work at Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota. As we approach the 2026 elections, we’re committed to ensuring Minnesotans are ready to vote!
Why Elections Matter
Voting is a powerful tool for advancing affordable homeownership and creating communities where everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. And while presidential election years grab the headlines, local and statewide elections often have the greatest impact on our daily lives, from housing decisions to those on schools, transit, and community resources. Your voice and your vote matter.

Voting Options
To vote in Minnesota, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on Election Day, and a resident of Minnesota for at least 20 days. Eligible Minnesotans have multiple options for casting their ballots:
- Vote Early in Person: Find a time that works for you and vote early at your designated location.
- Vote Early by Mail: Request an absentee ballot and vote from the comfort of your home.
- Vote on Election Day: Find your polling place and make your voice heard.
Visit mnvotes.gov for more information on these options and to find your polling place.
Be an Informed Voter
By learning more about who and what is on your ballot, you will be better positioned to see solutions for the issues that are vital to you. Attend candidate forums, ask questions, and do your research to ensure candidates and ballot measures align with your values and your community’s needs.

Learning more about who is running to represent you and their approaches will help you be better informed to vote for the candidates that support issues that are vital to Minnesotans. Whether a candidate comes door-knocking, calls you, or you attend a candidate forum, have Habitat Minnesota’s 2026 Candidate Conversation Guide handy:

Habitat Minnesota has partnered with MHP to invite candidates for the Minnesota House and Minnesota Senate to complete a nonpartisan housing questionnaire. The questionnaire is not part of any endorsement process and does not support or oppose any candidate or political party. Instead, it provides an opportunity for candidates to share their perspectives on a range of housing issues and helps voters better understand where candidates stand.
We encourage everyone to share the questionnaire with candidates in their districts or in the communities they serve. Go to the 2026 Candidate Housing Questionnaire landing page and follow these three steps:
✅Step 1: Find Your District and Candidates
✅Step 2: Use the Housing Advocacy Toolkit
✅Step 3: Share the Housing Candidate Questionnaire
You can now view your sample ballow for the upcoming election on November 3.
